Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial in 31 adults with IBS eating high-GOS foods for 3 days. In the 21 GOS-sensitive participants, 300 GALU of enzyme reduced overall symptoms and bloating.
Double-blind crossover trial in 19 people eating meatless chilli with alpha-galactosidase or placebo drops, followed for 6 hours. Flatulence events per hour were significantly lower with the enzyme.
